International Round Up:
Additionally, defender Thiago Silva also reached an international milestone as he became the eighth player to reach 100 appearances for Brazil.
Hot Streak Continues in the Capital:
Chelsea made their first trip to the new Brentford Community Stadium, looking for their sixth win in 11 games against the newly promoted club.
Given Brentford’s successful start to the campaign, the game looked to be a tough one. Thomas Tuchel was also forced into making enforcements to his defence with both Thiago Silva and Antonio Rüdiger side-lined – resulting in a Premier League debut for Malang Sarr.
The game was decided by a Ben Chilwell strike just before the half-time whistle. Brentford applied plenty of pressure, especially in the last 20 minutes, but Chelsea and Édouard Mendy held firm to return to the top of the table.
Blues Welcome Malmö:
As Chelsea return to European action on Wednesday night, the European Champions look forward to welcoming Malmö to Stamford Bridge.
The only other home game was a 3-0 win in February 2019, with goals coming from Olivier Giroud, Ross Barkley and Callum Hudson-Odoi on the night.

Norwich at Home:
The Blues will then return to league action with an early kick-off against Norwich on Saturday.
This will be the 55th game against the Chelsea and the Canaries, with Tuchel’s side expecting to add to the 76 goals they have scored in their previous 24 wins.
With Norwich currently bottom of the league, this should be an easy 3 points. However, as we all know, sometimes football can be a funny old game.
